Q: What is the average length of a session?

Most standard sessions run about 45 minutes to 90 minutes, depending on the package you choose and the vision for your portraits. I always allow enough time for you to feel comfortable, get creative, and capture a beautiful variety of images without feeling rushed.

Q: One of us is not great in front of the camera! What do we do?

That’s completely normal—and it’s exactly why you’re hiring me! My job is to guide you every step of the way, from natural posing to genuine expressions, so you never feel stiff or awkward. I’ll create a relaxed, fun atmosphere where you can truly enjoy the experience, and I’ll use angles, lighting, and prompts to highlight your best features. By the end of the session, you might be surprised by how confident (and photogenic!) you/they feel.

Q: CAN WE INCLUDE OUR DOG/S IN OUR PORTRAITS?

Absolutely! Pets are family too, and they bring so much personality to your portraits. I love capturing the special bond between you and your furry friends. If you plan to bring your dog(s), let me know ahead of time so I can prepare (and have treats on hand!). We’ll take breaks as needed to keep them comfortable, and you’ll end up with beautiful, heartfelt images that celebrate your whole family.

Q: WHERE DO PORTRAIT SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?

Most sessions are held in my cozy Collinsville studio, where I can control the light and create a relaxed, welcoming environment. However, I also love photographing outdoors or on location if you have a meaningful spot in mind—whether that’s your home, a favorite park, or somewhere that feels special to you. There are a number of beautiful spots within walking distance of my studio, as well. We’ll choose the perfect setting to match your vision!

Q: What if my children don't cooperate?

Don’t worry—that’s completely normal! Kids are full of energy and personality, and I’m here to capture all of it. I’ll create a relaxed, playful atmosphere so your little ones feel comfortable and engaged. Some of the best photos happen in those candid, in-between moments, so you can relax knowing we’ll get beautiful images no matter what.

Q: WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR FOR OUR FAMILY SESSION?

Choose outfits that make you feel comfortable and confident while complementing each other. Soft, neutral tones and subtle patterns photograph beautifully, but don’t be afraid to add a pop of color or texture to show your personality! The key is coordination, not matching — think “cohesive” rather than “identical.” I’m happy to help with wardrobe guidance and can even provide inspiration boards to make planning stress-free.
